The social-media giant said Friday it is moving to make it easier for people to order food for pick-up or delivery, noting that the process is too complicated. It promises to help save time by bringing existing food-ordering services, including ChowNow, Delivery.com, EatStreet, Olo, Slice and Zuppler, into its app and partnering with some restaurants directly.
People already go to Facebook to browse restaurants and decide where to eat or where to order food - we're making that easier," Alex Himel, vice president of Facebook's local team, said in a newsroom post on the website.
Orders can be placed for delivery or takeout, and you can use existing logins for their delivery partners. The feature has been testing for some users for several months, but it’s now available for all users on iOS, Android and desktop.
Facebook wants to make sure that you can do a lot of different things inside the app, so you stay in it longer. Whether or not being able to order food from the app will actually make that happen remains to be seen.
Is this a feature you think you’ll use?
